Helping To Pay For College

Educational Funding Solutions

To give you an overview of the college funding process, here are two diagrams that show the steps involved:

The federal government’s Department of Education has created a diagram of the college funding process, which they call “the hairball.”  Even the federal government sometimes has a sense of humor!  Their depiction of the college funding process has gained national exposure on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The Hairball

Education Funding Solutions has created a simplified diagram, which we call “The Maze.”  As much as we have tried to depict the process in the simplest way possible, it is still very confusing for parents and students.

“"We still can’t believe that our daughter received an offer of $10,000 per year for 4 years at one of the "Seven Sisters" schools – elite private women's colleges. The irony of the story is that we didn’t even know about this college until we started working with EFS, and our daughter was "positive" she wouldn't be accepted. It turned out to be one of the most financially viable of all her colleges. I guess the moral of the story is to research all possible schools with your major and to apply even if you don’t think you have a chance for admission!"
